Exterior traits
Formosan Mountain Dogs and foreign dogs don't look alike. Their bodies, hair, heads, ears,
eyes, tails, toes, and necks are all suitable to be running around cliffs and
in mountains, through bushes and forests. Their faces show an indescribable
seriousness, intelligence, and 'indigenousness'.
Head
Taiya Dog
Parietal bone round and slightly long, with forehead and groove, forehead to back of eyes
has a Y-shaped ridge bone, adequate cheeks, long nose, tightly closed lips, narrow snout,
sheep-like long face
Bunon Dog
Parietal bone wide and round, bulged and wide forehead, prominent
forehead with deep groove, shorter snout, loosely closed lips, back of
head distinguished and round, large head, full cheeks, very beautiful
Plain Dog

Taiya and Bunon Dogs with adequate length, tightly closed lips, large head, full and even
cheeks, very stylish

Eyes
Most common eye colors are tan and brown, and circles in the iris should be avoided (like
fowls).

Nose
Black, small and short Bunon and Plain Dogs have larger nosed than
Taiya Dogs thin nasal membrane, large nostrils, the rougher texture the better
Jaw
Teeth as long hooks, hard molars, white teeth, strong bite slightly open at the corners,
dark or spotted gum, tongue with or without marks on both the front or back surface both
acceptable (chances are half and half), tip of tongue thin and does not drool while base
of tongue wide and thick
Neck
Natural pose with neck leaning forward, level with the back when strolling forward, neck
too close to chest, front limbs perpendicular or too close together should be avoided

Taiya Dog has the highest pitch than Bunon and Plain Dog.

for long-distance activities, good endurance, exceptional sprint and jump, suitable for
cliff climbing
Bunon Dog: Sure-footed, suitable for long-distance activities, fine jump, sharp high-speed turns, suitable for cliff climbing, exceptional sprint, forceful pull
