Chen Ming-Nan
Perhaps because he's really completely nuts about dogs, Chen is known by everyone as 'Brother Native Dog'.
When Chen was in the third grade, his father gave him a native dog. From then on, Taiwan dog has become part of his life and pushed him into the endless task of Taiwan Dog preservation.

In order to find pure-breded Formosan Mountain Dog, Chen searched everywhere, from the developed plain area to the mountain aboriginal tribes. Finally, he found Hsiao Wu Fong, Black Spirit, Hunter, several pure-breds and was able to proceed to the next stage of breeding.

Initially he used the roof of an apartment building to breed dogs. Due to lack of space, he realized quickly that the dogs would soon lose their inherited instinct of toughness and urge to hunt.

Therefore, he took out a lease on 400 pings of hill land on Tahu Road in Yingo as the place to breed and train dogs. His hardwork finally paid off. His story was widely covered by media and received tremendous responses. Attention is at last paid to Taiwan Dogs.

Hopefully, friends of Taiwan Dogs can join together in this effort to preserve this species and play an important link in passing on this remarkable history to future generations.
